We’ve come a long way as a species, from hairless apes walking upright banging two rocks to animals that can travel outside their mother planet and can connect using electromagnetic waves. And the funny thing about this is that despite the turmoil and the roadblocks, we never showed any sign of ever stopping from progressing as a species.

Scholars and great minds can agree on the fact that the greatest invention mankind has ever made is the discovery of fire. From then on, we began advancing as a species and had achieved the feats we are able to experience and enjoy nowadays.

Undoubtedly, we can compare the invention of the internet and its peripheral services to the discovery of fire hundreds of thousands of years ago by our late ancestors. The new age of technology and the aid it has provided even in the most basic of necessities such as information gathering and peer-to-peer communication is something not even the mothers of our grandparents could’ve imagined or anticipated.

After the fire, Industrial Revolution came second as the most impactful milestone mankind had ever stepped upon. It mobilized multiple fields of technology and as a result, employment and had helped connect the world regardless of border and ethnicity.

To the reader, does this ring a bell? Yes, this is literally what blockchain had done for its supporters and adopters, earlier, and even the most recent ones. Blockchain allowed for cryptocurrencies to happen, for securities and privacy to be improved, among others. And of course, this isn’t where it’s stopping.

Before we delve deeper into this topic let us of course talk about what blockchain is, at least in the most basic sense of the word. Blockchain is a database where information can be stored in blocks chronologically. Once a block is filled, it can never be removed or be filled in with other information anymore, making that specific block literally yours.

You may think this kind of concept of technology sprouting multiple forms of use-cases and applications is too ridiculous, but the fact that it is very secure and versatile, among some of its desirable attributes allows for multiple use-cases and applications.

As we speak, Blockchain has been helping or is giving the promise to help in the field of technology, cryptocurrency, logistics, and supply monitoring, even in science and medicine. The possibilities are plenty when it comes to blockchain technology. Comparable to the opportunities and offerings that the industrial revolution had opened for us.

In the future, we can expect some of the most basic things we use, social media, for example, to run in blockchain or through a technology similar to blockchain. And as it receives more attention from developers and common folk alike, it will become more and more embedded in the lives of people.

We’re entering a new age of technology, and it is very possible that blockchain, will play a huge part in the advancement of our species.
