Gaming in the Crypto Space, Still an Uncharted Landscape

Gaming/Entertainment has cemented itself as one of the most important aspects of technology that we humans should improve upon. Since the conception of digital/virtual entertainment, companies, institutes, and even independent entities have strived to make better gaming experiences for the people who will subscribe to it. Nowadays Gaming is so ingrained in technology and human society that we build special tech pieces to support our gaming necessities.

Just about last year, the cryptocurrency space finally accepted gaming with open arms. Multiple play-to-earn games sprouted like fungi on a damp forest floor, aiming to revolutionize the seemingly untamed lands and make a name for themselves. However, despite the tens if not hundreds of independent developers creating video games or related content adjacent to their projects’ features.

But why is this the case?

Primarily, because these projects are doused in the crypto culture, capitalized more on the earning aspect of the Play-to-Earn Function, more than the “Play” part, forgetting that video games are first meant to be played and enjoyed, rather than to profit from.

As such, they give little to no care about the game mechanics, the aesthetics, as well as other quality-of-life features that most videogames out there give to their players.

This, double with the volatile nature of the cryptocurrency world causing collapses and dumps in utility tokens value, is what causes a turn for the worse for the game.

Thus far, we have yet to see a project competitive and smart enough to not only focus on the earning aspect of the video game they will release but most importantly on the entertainment part. Hopefully, with the release of CUDOS’s MainNet, competitive developers and builders bank on this great opportunity to create masterful projects that will stand the tests of time within the CryptoGaming Industry.
